Yes, the newsletter is late.
I have been ransacked by a virus and yesterday was first I’ve really been upright in four days. No, it wasn’t Covid, just the good old fashioned flu so says the test.
It’s surreal to hear our news media and politicians debate our pending national response to the new kid on the block, err variant, while having your body absolutely wrecked by the bully that’s been giving black eyes and stealing lunch money for years.
Over the past two years we’ve given up personal freedoms, been subjected to forced face masking, removed from family and loved ones, and injected an experimental elixir into our bodies. All in the hopes of safety.
And still, the old veteran linebacker shoots through the left tackle and blind sides me with a crushing hit. Game over.
There is a concept in security that says you can have perfect security but you’ll have zero usability. And you can have complete usability but you’ll have zero security. There has to be a balance.
It seems the world is still a dangerous place. We can’t mitigate all risk. We can’t neutralize all threats.
On the bright side, I lost a few pounds to prepare for my the coming gluttony of Christmas cookies.
